Dr. Wong has more than 10 years of research experience in the fields of viral immunology and vaccinology. He has been focusing on the immunogenicity, protective efficacy, and mechanisms of action of various vaccine vectors since his PhD study. He graduated with a PhD degree in Biomedical Science and Biochemistry from the Australian National University in 2014. He received his first post-postdoctoral training at Centenary Institute in Sydney, Australia in 2013 - 2016. He then joined Prof. Zhiwei Chen’s team at HKU in 2016 - 2020, where he led a research team to develop and test the PD-1 based DNA vaccine technology in different pre-clinical disease models. Dr. Wong is the co-inventor of the patent of "PD-1 based DNA vaccines against coronavirus infection", which was licensed by the Group in 2020 from HKU Technology Transfer Office. During his time in academia, Dr. Wong obtained several university and government grants to develop novel immunotherapies for infectious diseases. He received Young Investigator Awards for his research at multiple local and international conferences. Before joining the Group, he was a research scientist at SinoMab BioScience Limited (stock code: 3681) in 2020-2021.
